I so much agree with John Adams on this point. MerryK often comments about my pessimism, but on this point I believe that I am correct to be pessimistic about the fate of this country.
When you can reinterpret (defacto change) the constitution to fit the times, then it has truly become inadequate for this government. It is no different than when people reinterpret the Bible to make it appear to saction any depravity they want to commit, be it homosexuality, divorce for any reason, women preacing, etc. When the foundational documents are no longer taken seriously, then downfall is the only result.
As a country, we have forgotten Who got us to where we are and He will soon, if not already, turn His back on us!
