Princess Emma's adventure

Emma Darcy had the misfortune to step on a pair of open scissors, and, after spending Thursday night through early Friday morning in the emergency room, was stitched up and returned safe and mostly sound. Unfortunately (for us), she was not allowed to walk. Emma Darcy, who has always thought that she was of superior rank, very much enjoyed being able to command her slaves (us) to carry her about. Nary a foot touched the ground, as she commanded "Take me upstairs" and "Take me to Mom's room", in a tone of easy command. She seemed born to be a duchess. Needless to say, there were tears when we informed her that she was well enough to walk, yesterday. I am sure, though, that she will always remember the days that she was treated like a princess.
