Harry Truman was a war criminal?

Jon Stewart, a sometimes funny TV comedian, said during a discussion about torture that Harry Truman was a war criminal for dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki 64 years ago. I'm sure that some others today believe, like Jon Stewart, that those attacks were unwarranted. This may be due to their political bent and/or due to their incorrect education about World War II and what led up to those bombings.
