Two Wonderful Books I Just Read

I just finished _Your Child's Growing Mind_ by Jane Healy and it was wonderful! I think I read a recommendation for it at the Common Room. I sure wish I had read this years ago! I learned so much about my children, and much that would have been helpful when they were younger. It is very practical and gives how-tos which I really appreciate. What a great book! BTW, I also learned a lot from Jane Healy's _Endangered Minds_ and think that all parents should read it as well.

The other book I picked up off the clearance rack at Half Price Books last week. (Best dollar I ever spent!) It looked like a nice story and it wasn't till I got home and read the inside dust jacket that I realized it was based on a true story. Perhaps others already know about this book...I see it was on Reading Rainbow on PBS. Anyway, it was new to me. Today I read it aloud to my little ones and I wept throughout the entire book. It was so touching. Oh, sure, I might also be a bit hormonal, but the book really is amazing. It is just a picture book but it is one of my favorites! Get it from the library, if you don't own it already. It is called _Boxes for Katje_ by Candace Fleming. And grab some tissues before you read it.
