Kate and Leopold

We just watched a time travel/romance film called Kate and Leopold. Though it would be considered a chick-flick for the most part, the first half is pure comedy and all my brothers loved it. The plotline is that a duke from 1876 is accidentally brought forward to modern times. He’s a chivalrous gentleman, and the romance part was more palatable because it supported chivalry, integrity, courtesy, and honor. In the director’s commentary, he said that his aim was not to make the past (shown as avaricious in the movie) look wonderful, but to support the idea that chivalry should never have gone out of style. Duke Leopold's attraction is not that he's handsome, but that he is considerate to everyone and honorable to women. There were a couple editing issues, but overall it was a very enjoyable film.
