Gardening bug

For three years now, I've been growing a vegetable garden for the family. It's one of my passions, but while I easily get obsessed with things I love, occasionally I lose interest. For gardening, I lose interest between October and somewhere mid-January (whenever the seed catalogs arrive in the mail). But now the bug is back with full power, and I've been spending a lot of time digging up every free bit of space in our small yard, writing long lists of seed packets to buy, and making diagrams of where I shall plant them.

I try something new each year, and this year I'm growing some flowers and herbs as well as vegetables. Last year I had some extra space, and filled it with one variety of flowers, and the effect was a lovely carpet of purple and yellow. After that, I decided that growing vegetables gave you more, but flowers were fun.

Another new thing I'm growing is ground cherries. I've never eaten them before, but the description sounded intriguing. A tomato plant that grows cherry flavored fruit? Why not? My tomato plants overran my garden last year, so I'm assuming they'll grow, especially since I'm providing cages this year.
