CDs I'm listening to
(You can listen to bits of the songs at all the links)
For Thy Pleasure — This is a delightful Baroque CD, but the artist is a classical guitar quartet. It's old but new, and the last song (a pan-genre Pachelbel's canon) is somewhat irreverent but too much fun.
Bride and Prejudice Soundtrack — This was an excellent movie, a modern India adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, that was different, but held close to the book in more places than I expected. (It needs a little editing, mostly one scene and a little language.) It's bright, colorful, and Indian; and so is the soundtrack. Caveat: tracks 7 and 10 are disgusting songs, but the rest are fine.
Last Samurai Soundtrack — Great movie, lovely soundtrack. Sometimes peaceful and sweet, othertimes strong and powerful, it often reminded me of the Braveheart soundtrack, another great one from a great movie.
Enchantment — The best Charlotte Church CD. She's got an opera voice, but sings folk songs, songs from musicals, etc., and they are all wonderful.
The Scarlet Pimpernel Musical — (I mentioned this before) This is a very catchy musical, and also has some very pretty and witty songs, especially "The Creation of Man" (for witty) and "When I Look at You" (for pretty)
Winter's Crossing — This is done by Sir James Galway, a flutist whose music I greatly admire. This CD is themed around the Irish imigration, and is very Celtic and beautiful.
Poodle Hat — Totally different, but just as good in it's way. Weird Al Yankovic often has a little language, or crudity, and you should skip track 6 totally. Definitely needing a preview. But his parodies and humor are the work of a genius. A mad genius, but a genius still. 'Ebay' is especially ingenious.
